This article continues the news coverage of the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft by describing a new revelation concerning the possible location of the plane. Australia has reported two possible satellite sightings of large chunks of debris off the Western coast of Australia. As of now, a Royal Australian Air Force Orion aircraft has been deployed to investigate the situation further. Three more aircraft are on their way as well. John Young, general manager of the maritime authority, described the largest of the objects as about 78 feet long and located about 1,500 miles off the coast of Perth. The article continued to say that approximately 25 nations are part of the search effort in total now. The article was careful to shy away from making any kinds of irresponsible, gross conclusions, which is a method that certain other news agencies have tended to forget. The article essentially concludes on a "back to work" note by noting the efforts that the United States and China are contributing to the search.
Is anyone else as sick of Malaysian airplane coverage as I am? There have been some real stories developing in the Middle East, a lot of protests in Egypt and all the journalists in the USA only care about this one missing plane. I'm absolutely outraged with the sheer amount of time devoted to this story, especially by CNN. Emil, you say that this article stays away from making up information to generate a story which is really refreshing from the outrageous allegations news agencies like CNN are making.

DeleteThe reason that the Malaysian jet is getting so much coverage is that this is a far more real-life story for most of us than Egyptian protesting. The number of us who will fly on a plane in the next twelve months is much higher than the number of us who will be directly involved with Egypt. I agree it is a little silly but this is a gripping story and you need to recognize that silly things can get the masses hooked pretty fast.
Okay, Yes, I now understand the reason this has been a popular story, however I'm still very angry. The integrity of these news organizations is jeopardized because they blow out of proportions the facts they receive and the draw false conclusions from those facts. On CNN, they actually had a panel discussing Bermuda triangle theories where one of the reporters compared it to LOST, and they asked these questions with absolute sincerity
